"Lover and a Giver” is a response to what’s going on in the world right now. I feel like a lot of people are starting to lose hope, and there’s a lot of tensions and divisions in America at the present moment. I wrote this song to be an anthem of love, hope, and unity; much like the great songs of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. It’s also a reminder to appreciate the beautiful things in life, like nature and watching a river flow, and to realize that we are all connected, and ultimately just want to find something authentic, true, and meaningful. The goal for this song is to turn darkness into light, and to offer a kind of cathartic therapy for those of us who are becoming increasingly frustrated and disillusioned with what’s on the news.
lyrics
I hear hateful monsters firing bullets of ignorant bigotry
My ear drum cracks from fabricated facts
lies are rising, fire on the horizon,
Trying to crush the hope inside us, and divide us
And everyday the news makes us angry and confused
CHORUS:
I just wanna hear the wind and the trees and the river
I just wanna be free to be a lover and a giver
Wanna taste beauty, just wanna feel
Wanna get a grasp on something real
Wanna hear the wind and the trees and the river
I just wanna be free to be a lover and a giver
I see violent looks and fuming eyes
Vicious demons in disguise
fractured egos shards of glass
Fascists trying to bring back the past
Bitter battles on TV, and I can't see reality
CHORUS
But I know that love's there waiting
And I know that hope's not fading
But I know that love's there waiting
I don't know I don't know but I hope
But I hope
