Jordan chose to record Two Roads simply and organically, with a stripped down instrumentation of an acoustic grand piano, cello, & vocal. Two Roads captures a moment of trying to make a hard, life-changing decision & being torn up inside about it. The lyrical concept is inspired by the Robert Frost poem The Road Not Taken, but has a unique take on the classic.
lyrics
Two roads diverge
Tongue tied, no words
Two roads to choose
I’m so afraid of what I might lose
Two doors,
Two keys
Two possibilities
If one road is wrong
Then which one is right
If one road's the truth, is one road a lie
Don't know which is which
But I feel a divide
I’m all torn up inside
I’m torn up inside
Two roads divert
Either way somebody’s gonna get hurt
Two ends out of one beginning
Can't tell if I’m losing or winning
Two doors, Two keys, Two possibilities
If one road is wrong, then which one is right?
If one road's the truth, is one road a lie?
Don't know which is which
But I feel a divide
I’m all torn up inside
I’m torn up inside
And way leads onto way, I’m still afraid of the road not taken
And way leads onto way, yeah,
Still afraid that I’ll make a mistake and
Way leads onto way, high stakes and My heart is breaking
I feel the divide, and I’m torn up inside
Two paths
Two roads
Better decide before my head explodes
If one road is wrong, Then which one is right?
If one road's the truth, Is one road a lie
Don't know which is which but I feel a divide
I’m all torn up inside, I’m torn up inside
Two roads
Diverge
Now I’m just hoping that no one gets hurt
